Out of this world...

Right now, just before dawn, you can see Mercury rising briefly above the horizon; just north of due east, as pictured here courtesy of Jodrell Bank. It's normally lost in the glow from the sun, which it is the closest to of all our planets, so seeing it is more difficult than you might think.

In London you'll need either to get up high, or find somewhere with a good view of the horizon, unobstructed by buildings.
